During the Iron Swords War, began on October 7th 2023, many soldiers and civilians were wounded, creating a high demand for advanced medical solutions. This case details the injury of a soldier who sustained a complex fracture to the tibial plateau, shattering the proximal bone into multiple fragments.
To address this, we received an urgent request for assistance. Utilizing virtual design technology, each bone fragment was repositioned to its correct anatomical location. Two anatomical models, showing the pre- and post-operative conditions, were designed and 3D printed. These colorful models provided the surgeon with a clear understanding of the injury and the planned surgical approach.
During the operation, the surgeon used these models to accurately reconstruct the tibial surface according to the virtual design. The surgery was successful, demonstrating the effectiveness of 3D planning and modeling in complex surgical procedures.
